Emotional workshop for children in Barcelona: working on fears and emotions
Supporting children in their emotional world is not always easy. Fears, insecurities or difficulties expressing what they feel often arise, and as families, we do not always know how to help them
This emotional workshop for children in Barcelona was created as a safe space where children can work on emotional regulation through play, creativity and expression. A place where every child can feel heard, understood and supported throughout their process

What does the emotional workshop for children involve?
This emotional workshop for children is designed as an experiential space where children can explore and express their inner world in a safe and supportive environment
The work is based on a humanistic approach, inspired by professionals such as Violet Oaklander and Loretta Cornejo, focused on respecting each child’s individual pace and supporting their emotional development
Through play, creativity, movement and symbolic expression, children can:
- Connect with what they are feeling.
- Give shape to their emotions.
- Better understand what is happening to them.
Rather than teaching emotions from a theoretical perspective, the aim is to offer experiential activities that allow children to integrate emotional resources naturally and in a way that is appropriate for their age
How we work on emotional regulation in children
Emotional regulation in children is a process that develops gradually. Children are not born knowing how to identify what they feel or how to express their emotions appropriately, which is why they need spaces where they can learn these skills with support
In this workshop, we work on emotional regulation through experience, helping children to:
- Recognise what they feel in their bodies
- Name their emotions
- Express what is happening to them safely
- Regulate themselves when intense emotions arise
Through activities adapted to their age, children can gradually develop tools that help them in their everyday lives, both at home and at school
The aim is not to eliminate emotions such as fear or sadness, but to learn to understand them, move through them and feel supported while experiencing them
What do we work on during the workshop?
During the workshop, children will have the opportunity to work on different key aspects of their emotional development, always through play and experience:
- Recognising and naming their emotions, learning to identify what they are feeling at any given moment
- Expressing what is happening to them safely, without fear of being judged
- Strengthening their self-esteem and inner sense of security, developing greater confidence in themselves
- Developing resources to face their fears, understanding that fear is part of growing up
- Improving their social skills, developing healthier relationships with other children
Each child participates at their own pace, in a space where respect, listening and emotional support are prioritised
Workshop focused on childhood fears
Childhood fears are a natural part of emotional development. They can appear at different stages and may be related to separation, darkness or relationships with other children
However, when these fears create insecurity or prevent a child from moving forward, it is important to provide appropriate support
In this workshop, children will be able to:
- Understand what is happening to them
- Express what they are feeling safely
- Feel supported and understood
Through play and expression, they will learn to relate to their fears in a calmer and more secure way
Who is this emotional workshop for?
This workshop is designed for children who need a space to understand and express what they are feeling
It may be especially helpful for children who:
- Feel insecure or have low self-esteem
- Find it difficult to express their emotions
- Experience frequent fears, such as separation, sleeping alone or making mistakes
- Have difficulties in their relationships with other children
The child does not need to have previously attended therapy. The workshop is designed as a first space for emotional support, adapted to their age and current stage of development
It can also help children with emotional difficulties related to learning

Frequently Asked Questions about children's workshops
Does my child need to have attended therapy before?
No. The workshop is designed as a first space for emotional support, so it is not necessary to have started a therapeutic process beforehand
What happens if my child is shy or finds it difficult to socialise?
The space is carefully designed so that each child can participate at their own pace. They are never forced to take part, and little by little, children usually begin to gain confidence and feel more secure
How are the groups organised?
The groups are organised by age range, so that children can share the experience with others who are at a similar stage of development
How many children are there in each group?
They are small groups, which allows us to support each child’s process more closely and take care of the group dynamic
What is the difference between this workshop and individual therapy?
The workshop offers a group-based experiential space where children can work on their emotions through their relationships with others. Individual therapy allows for deeper and more personalised work.
